About Me

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!

I’m Lauren, a New York City area Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a love for food and a zest for life! I created Nutrition By Lauren to share what I think living a healthy, nutritious life means and help you be your best self. This is a place where I share my thoughts on nutrition, recipes I create and food I love to eat!

I believe having a healthy relationship with food is important and I’m here to help you with that! Living your best, healthiest life does not have to mean depriving yourself of all the yummy food that you love! I don’t promote diets or cleanses, as I don’t feel that they are sustainable, instead I preach eating wholesome, delicious foods in moderation and being as physically active as is possible for you.

My professional life…

I have always had a love for food. My freshman year of college, while deciding to transfer to University of Delaware, I came across the dietetics major. I thought it was a great major for me since I love eating and being physically active and I was super interested in learning how to fuel my body and how to help others fuel their bodies the right way.

I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2011 with my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. At the time I worked at Christiana Care Health System in community health. Shortly after graduating, I was accepted into the University of Delaware’s Dietetic Internship program. I graduated from the program in May, 2013 and took my test to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in July, 2013. After passing my test, I continued my work in community health and grew as a professional, gaining knowledge and experience in education, program management, grant writing and program development. In August, 2014, I moved to Jersey City, NJ and started a position as a clinical dietitian. This position helped me grow as a dietetic professional and learn even more about nutrition and the human body and gain experience in counseling. This past November, I made an exciting career move and became a Health and Wellness Coach for Wellness Coaches USA, working in Manhattan.   In this position, I have the opportunity to coach employees at New York Presbyterian on all health and wellness topics. This is my first position involving employee wellness and I absolutely love it!

I am a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice group where I volunteer on the New Member Welcoming Committee. I also volunteer for the Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group. In addition to this, I am a member of the New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (NJAND) board as the Social Media Co-Chair and I lead the Hudson County Professional Networking Group for NJAND.

More about me…

I love spending time with my family and friends, strolling around Jersey City and Manhattan and finding the best food spots wherever I am! You’ll often find me running along the Jersey City boardwalk or on the bike path on Long Island and spending time with fellow dietitians in the New Jersey/New York area. I LOVE too many foods to count, but some of my current faves are avocados, cheddar cheese, dark chocolate, sweet potatoes, strawberries, vanilla yogurt and anything with pumpkin. I also cannot start my day without a good cup of coffee (preferably iced!). I’m all about sharing scenes from my runs and photos of my food, so don’t forget to follow me on my social media accounts to get in on all the action!
